Don’t Panic

Recently I had my first panic attack.

My heart was pounding out of my chest, my arms, my back.

Waking up in the middle of the night,

Worrying because you suddenly don’t feel right.

I called for help, I called my home,

Things can be harder when you live alone.

Sweaty and shaking, wondering if I was breaking – am I really sick or is my body just faking?

I got checked out, turns out I was fine,

I succumbed to sleep somewhere later in time.

So thanks to those friends who didn’t even know they were helping,

And my family who for the next few days would constantly ring.

I had my first panic attack but I made it through,

To anyone else out there – you can too.
